Rachel Baxter
Rachel Baxter is an artist living and working in Troy, NY. She received her BFA in printmaking from The College of Saint Rose (2011) and her MFA from Indiana University in 2014. She currently has a studio at The Church Troy and teaches printmaking The College of Saint Rose. She has shown her work nationally and internationally, has been commissioned for both public and private murals, as well as been an artist in residence at The Sitka Fellows Program and the Elizabeth Murray Artists Residency. She is interested in materials and processes that have an inherent ability to transform. Through oxidizing metals or evaporating pigments in water, she embraces the unexpected. The results offer the viewer abstract moments that call on the visual language of nature. Weather patters, erosion, a crashing wave – her pieces reflect the natural world and its constant state of flux.
