DESCRIPTION:

Curious Worlds brings together new paintings by David Eddy and John Van Orsouw, presenting two distinct yet complementary approaches to image-making.

Eddy’s work unfolds through layered surfaces where symbols, forms, and fragments emerge within richly worked fields of color. His paintings feel exploratory and intuitive – suggesting natural systems, objects, and atmospheres without settling into fixed meaning. There is a quiet sense of movement and discovery, where images reveal themselves gradually through texture, rhythm, and association.

In contrast, Van Orsouw’s paintings are bold, graphic, and immediate. Drawing from cultural references, music, and figuration, his compositions combine text, character, and gesture into vibrant, narrative-driven scenes. His work carries a strong sense of energy and improvisation, inviting viewers into spaces that feel both playful and sharply observed.

Together, Eddy and Van Orsouw create a dynamic dialogue – moving between ambiguity and clarity, restraint and expression. Curious Worlds explores how we construct and interpret visual space, offering an experience that is layered, engaging, and open to discovery.
