Rooted & Rising brings together three artists whose practices are grounded in close observation of the natural world yet lifted by deeply personal interpretation and material exploration. Monica Link Miller’s disciplined two-foot-square oil paintings, created in her woodland studio beside a brook, quietly trace the subtle transitions between seasons — Summer answering Autumn, Winter giving way to Spring. Teri Malo approaches landscape through memory and movement, gathering impressions from daily walks and reassembling them into layered compositions that merge realism and abstraction. Her surfaces shimmer with fragments of leaves, water, granite, and air — details that dissolve and reform like recollection itself. Complementing the painters, Tim Jones offers a sculptural counterpoint through ceramics that balance weight and luminosity, earthiness and refinement, presence and stillness.
Together, their work forms a conversation about place, transformation, and attentiveness. Miller and Malo both explore landscape as lived experience rather than literal depiction, while Jones grounds the exhibition physically through vessels shaped by hand and fire. Painting and clay echo one another — surface and form, gesture and gravity — creating a shared language of material and meditation. Each artist is deeply rooted in process, craft, and environment, yet their work rises into something contemplative and transcendent. The pairing feels natural: three distinct voices unified by a reverence for season, landscape, and the quiet power of observation.
