Mary Pat Wager has been a sculptor for over thirty years. Her work is included in many public and private collections. Her sculpture employs the use of found objects, as well as, fabricated metal components.
Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. She has received numerous awards for her work in sculpture. These include a National Endowment for the Arts grant and representing the United States with her work at the Small Works International Exhibition in Budapest, Hungary.
Mary Pat Wager lives and works in upstate New York.
Artist statement:
“My work is that of assemblage. I allow for a selective but all-inclusive collection of items to become my visual voice.
Personal, historic, industrial and natural objects along with diverse materials such as precious metals, bronze, copper, steel, farm equipment, clay, antiques, and wood are transformed, manipulated, welded and juxtaposed into revered compositions.
I find it interesting to work with the visual residue of these items and to thoughtfully control the juxtaposition of each object to allow for the interplay of visual and psychological relationships, which result in translation of personal thought.”
