In the artist’s own words:

“A self taught potter, with a 12 year passion for clay.  Veterinary Medicine is my profession but clay satisfies my creativity and provides a therapeutic life balance. The calmer, quieter aspects of life reflected in my clay pieces. They are inspired by the  sights and beauty I see in Washington County.  Most often my work is displayed at the Landscape for Landsake show with the  purpose to raise money for farmland protection. I love the tactile nature of clay and the comfort I get from reforming it. I often use a technique called sgraffito.  Carving through a top decorative layer to expose the clay body underneath. For many of my pieces that surface layer is a self glazing  chocolate brown that I dug up from my own farmland.  I enjoy incorporating clay from the landscape at my farm into the landscape of my 3 dimensional  pieces, bringing the piece to life.”
