Artist Statement
“I am drawn to the influence of light on the texture and shape of the land and the influence of the sky. Sand, rocks, water, clouds and plants are the elements of my palette. The unique and intriguing qualities of infrared photography have led to my finding the essence of these scenes. Infrared photography reveals our world in ways usually unseen by the human eye as it records an image in the otherwise invisible portion of the light spectrum. The shifted value range of the images challenges our senses to re-orient themselves to a new reality… much like everyday life today! The effects of infrared photography seem to enhance the mystery and visual intensity present in each image.
These photographs renew a brief emotional reaction from the moment the light and subject were creating my own personal experience. As I open the shutter, I know that what I see will never be seen the same again… and I try to share that experience with other viewers.
The range of these images is about the intensity of light, shadows and reflections. They have been chosen purposely to emphasize the diverse patterns that water and light create and the strong emotional drama nature presents in our world!”
