Artist Statement
Abstracted sketches derived from photographed spaces are digitally projected and reconstructed onto flat canvas. Intuitive connection, reactive mark making, and transformation shape the compositions to be unrecognizable yet familiar. Every stage of each piece forms new associations and networks. Each layer of flat paint pushes color, saturation, value, and line to stray further from representation. The contrast of color and thin black line creates a rhythm that weaves and flows through each work to create spacial shifts or a lack thereof.
